Her name is Sage Walker and the book she authored, The Awakening, is a collection of 125 poems, each with a positive, inspirational message. The page I turned to was the following:
You Are A Star (ironically the meaning of my name)
You are a star
Which came from the sky
Within the Heavens above,
Created in beauty and love
Without boundaries,
Open and unlimited
With the freedom to be
The exceptional person
You were meant to be;
On a journey,
A life with lessons to learn,
So you may blossom and discern.
And become all you are meant to be.
Use love as a path in life
For it will defeat all strife.
Joy, happiness, and love
Are all the gifts you need.
Walk the road using these each day,
So you may go forward on your way.
Thinking it might have been a fluke, I turned randomly to another page and read:
A Star Who Shines (there’s that “Star” again)
A star who shines
Sometimes a light too dim
It is hard to see the beacon hidden within.
Kindness and compassion in her soul
Ever needing love before she is old.
The beacon wants to be turned on
To shine for all to see.
Be who you are really meant to be!
Okay, got the message and bought the book. In her notes, the author suggests that the best way to use the book is to choose a title that appeals to you and after reading it think about how it relates to your life, recognizing yourself in the experience and being aware of any negative feelings that are holding you back.
She acknowledges that we all meet obstacles in life that may stand in our way and obstruct our potential. When we accept these restrictions we lose or lessen our energy and dreams. She acknowledges that it may not be easy to move beyond our fears, doubts and losses, that going beyond our comfort zone might be a struggle, but with faith and perseverance, things can change and we can move forward.
One more Sage writing.
How Do We Spend Our Life?
We enter into our lives in the arms of a family.
They care for us and nurture our needs.
As children we grow, we learn, we play
And do all the things that children do.
School comes, and we struggle with things;
Some lessons we see no need to learn,
But that’s not for us to discern.
Then come the teen years which are quite a challenge.
We date, we love, hoping to live happily ever after.
Some things work – Some do not.
We do what we can and make the best of our lives.
We have children whom we love and rear
Until it’s time for them to be on their own.
We look at the time we have left
Feeling guilty for thinking of ourselves.
This is the time to begin anew.
To do the things we always wanted to do.
Look forward without guilt.
Time to enjoy – Time to be free
Time to become who you are meant to be.
The past is past
It’s now a new day for you to learn, for you to play.
Keep not the guilt – Keep not the pain;
Enter a new life and begin again.
